Paul Bettany joins "Inkheart"

Variety reports that Paul Bettany ("The Da Vinci Code") is joining "Inkheart" alongside Brendan Fraser in the New Line Cinema family comedy. Iain Softley will direct the feature.

The movie spent 19 weeks on the New York Times Children's Chapter bestseller list and tells of a girl whose father has the power to bring characters from books to life by reading aloud.

Avillainous ruler and his band of rogues from a children's fable kidnaps the father, to which his daughter and her friends - real and imaginary - embark on a mission to rescue him.
