After their wildly successful showing with "Iron Man" at the box office this past weekend, Marvel Studios revealed yesterday their schedule for upcoming pictures all the way until 2011.
Starting with an "Iron Man" sequel, Marvel Studios is aiming for a second "Iron Man" film to be released on April 30, 2010. A movie based on the "Thor" comic book is being targeted for a June 4, 2010 release date. Matthew Vaughn ("Layer Cake") is currently working on that picture.
On May 6, 2011, Marvel hopes to release "The First Avenger: Captain America," a new picture based on the Captain America comic book hero. Later in July that year, the studio hopes to release an "Avengers" movie will will team up Iron Man, The Hulk, Captain America and Thor. Zak Penn ("X2") is working on the script for that movie.
Paramount would own distribution rights for all of the previously mentioned films.
Additionally, the Marvel is also working on an "Ant-Man" project to be written and directed by Edgar Wright and also "Spider-Man 4."
