Variety reports that Angelina Jolie will headline "Edwin A. Salt," a project in which Tom Cruise was going to star in. Kurt Wimmer will rewrite the script in order to accomodate the lead role for a female. Philip Noyce will direct the script with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Sunil Perkash producing.

Jolie will play a CIA officer who is accused of being a Russian spy. She must avoid capture all while trying to prove her innocence as well.

In addition to a new character, the title will get a change as well. The project may be Jolie's first after giving birth to twins.
