The Coen Brothers is looking to adapt Charles Portis' book "True Grit" into a new feature film. "True Grit" was previously adapted into a film in 1969 that starred John Wayne and won Best Actor at the Academy Awards.

Variety reports that the Coens' version of the film will be more true to the book.

According to the trade, Portis' novel is about "a 14-year-old girl who, along with an aging U.S. marshal and another lawman, tracks her father's killer in hostile Indian territory. "

The Coens' version will tell the tale from the girl's point of view.
