Halle Berry may be joining the Paul Verhoeven thriller "The Surrogate," reports The Hollywood Reporter. Ralph Winter is producing along with Deborah Giarratana, Robin Guthrie and Susana Zepeda. 20th Century Fox is distributing the eventual film.

Kathryn Mackel penned the 2004 book of the same name which told of a couple who is desperate to have a child and decide to enlist the help of a surrogate mother. They find themselves in a difficult position, however, when they learn that the surrogate is insane. Berry would play the mother who is wanting a child.
