Natalie Portman is close to signing on board Darren Aronofsky's supernatural thriller project, "Black Swan." The Hollywood Reporter reports that the project - which had been setup at Universal in 2007 - has been resurrected and is currently being shopped at various studios. Mark Heyman is currently rewriting the script by John McLaughlin.
According to the trade, the film "centers on a veteran ballerina (Portman) who finds herself locked in a competitive situation with a rival dancer, with the stakes and twists increasing as the dancers approach a big performance. But it's unclear whether the rival is a supernatural apparition or if the protagonist is simply having delusions."
The trade also prints that those familiar with the project liken it to Nicole Kidman's "The Others."
