Dreamworks is working on a deal to acquire the sci-fi novel "I Am Number Four," the first book in an upcoming six-part series from WME. According to Variety, Michael Bay is being setup to produce and possibly direct the film. Steven Spielberg may be exec producing the project as well, which would reunite the two after completing "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
While not confirmed, rumors have it that the book is co-written by James Frey, the author who infamously wrote "A Million Little Pieces," a story he claimed of his life struggles and battles with inner demons, only to reveal that most of the book was fabricated.
The book series tells of nine teenage aliens who escaped their planet before it was destroyed by a hostile species. As the kids assimilate, the title character finds out that he is being hunted by the very enemy that destroyed their planet.
