Dr. Seuss' "The Lorax" headed to the big screen

Dr. Seuss "The Lorax" is being turned into a 3-D CG feature film which will be released on March 2, 2012.

Variety reports that Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment will be working on the project. The film will be co-directed by Chris Renaud and Cinco Paul & Ken Daurio, with Paul & Daurio writing the script.

"The Lorax" was published in 1971 and tells of a greedy entrepreneur who strips a forest of its trees despite warnings from a tree-loving Lorax.
